Economic development is a priority for the Myanmar government, and the private sector in Myanmar must play a vital role in achieving this goal. Private businesses are more likely to attract investment; They create the kind of business that creates jobs and protects communities and the environment. However, despite economic reforms, small and medium enterprises across the country are struggling to make ends meet. Challenges such as building and unclear regulations. These challenges can be addressed by the Myanmar government improving economic governance, or by adopting a policy-making approach by policymakers and officials to create a conducive environment for the private sector. However, there is a need for economic governance in Myanmar to address this. Weaknesses need to be identified and the support needed to implement the reforms and support the Union and Region / State Governments.
The Myanmar Business Environment Index (MBEI) project aims to increase government-to-government understanding of economic governance in Myanmar. To support business and other sectors and to ensure inclusiveness and sustainability in future economic development. The MBEI is an economic governance index (EGI) or a measure of the performance of local authorities. It can also be used to assess the growth of the local business environment through statistical indicators.
